Malachi Toney landing on CFB 27 cover shows Miami's program is in perfect position

Malachi Toney has already become one of the faces of college football on the field. Now Miami's sophomore wide receiver is one of the faces of college football on its signature video game.

Toney is featured on the EA Sports College Football 27 Deluxe Edition cover that surfaced Saturday, putting the Hurricanes' star receiver alongside some of the biggest names in the sport.

It also serves as another indicator that the Canes are officially back in the national spotlight, and Toney is one of the biggest reasons why.

Malachi Toney joins a stacked CFB 27 cover lineup

The leaked Deluxe Edition cover includes Toney, Indiana coach Curt Cignetti, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy, Texas linebacker Colin Simmons and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore. Mascots from Western Kentucky, LSU and Arizona State are also shown on the cover, while Indiana's Memorial Stadium is used as the backdrop.

The cover is built around current star power, playoff relevance, big brands and players who are expected to define the 2026 college football season. EA's bigger "Opening Drive" showcase for College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27 is scheduled for June 4.

The cover appearance also lines up with the leaked College Football 27 ratings that had Toney at 96 overall. That overall makes him one of the most dangerous players in the game.

The Hurricanes are currently going through an important official visit weekend with multiple top recruits coming to Coral Gables. The timing of the Deluxe Edition cover will definitely impress prospects. Making EA's CFB cover may not be the No. 1 dream most college football players strive for, but it surely makes the top 10. Toney has that checked off now, and high school recruits are going to want to follow his path.
