Malachi Toney was more than happy to add a spark to the FSU rivalry in CFB27 promo

Florida State might be down and the Seminoles coach is probably on his way out. But the rivalry never dies and Malachi Toney knows that.

EA Sports recently released some fun promo videos from the photo shoot held for the cover of the College Football 27 game earlier this summer, and they asked Toney and a few other players involved with the game's promotion to say something nice about their biggest rival. Well, you know the Miami-born and bred playmaker wasn't going to take part in that.

Who? Exactly!

Malachi Toney gives FSU some shade in CFB27 promo

Toney got his first taste of the Miami-FSU rivalry as a player last season, and he didn't waste much time showing the Seminoles what everyone had experienced going up against the star freshman up to that point. He finished with seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Who did FSU have in its secondary that could cover him? Apparently no one.

Who on FSU's roster that could keep up with him in the open field? Definitely no one.

Toney is a lifelong Hurricanes fan, so the FSU rivalry runs deeper for him than other players on both sides that watched the rivalry from afar before becoming part of it. He's been surrounded by friends and family that have likely chosen allegiances on both sides. 

He wasn't quite old enough to remember watching the great players that went undefeated against the Seminoles, like Sean Taylor and Frank Gore, and all the wide right/wide left stuff came before Toney's time as well. 

But Toney presents the next level of Miami Hurricanes that will take pride in this rivalry and take pride in beating FSU even when the Seminoles are down, because most Miami fans are smart enough to know that they won't stay down forever. Three years ago, FSU was 13-1 and the Seminoles haven't won 13 games since.

Everyone is pointing to the Notre Dame game on November 7, which will be one of the biggest games of the season and many Miami fans have the October 3rd road date against Clemson circled. But FSU coming to Hard Rock Stadium on October 17th is still a very big deal. It's the Seminoles. It's a chance to send Mike Norvell out the door and, with Toney leading the Hurricanes offense, they won't hesitate to kick the Seminoles while they are down.

Toney knows that FSU would do the exact same thing to Miami if the situation was reversed, and that's what makes this rivalry great.
