Miami head coach Mario Cristobal praised his running back after Miami's 42-7 rout of Stanford.
"Mark Fletcher again showed why he's such a great player and so important to this football team... You give him the carries necessary to get him going, and I think the entire tone and perspective of the game changes."Mario Cristobal
Fletcher delivered 106 rushing yards and a career-high three touchdowns β each in the third quarter β to break open a 7β7 game. It was a major statement from Miami who just came off a loss to Louisville. While it was only against Stanford, the Hurricanes clearly looked better and a lot more like the top-10 team that they are.

Fletcher leads Miami in rushing with 552 yards on 109 carries (5.1 per rush) and nine touchdowns, providing the physical edge that complements quarterback Carson Beck and the WR room. He opened the year with 73 yards on 13 carries in the win over Notre Dame, added back-to-back 100-yard games against Bethune-Cookman and Florida, andβ after being limited to 18 yards on eight carries in the Louisville loss β reasserted himself versus Stanford. That bounce-back shows just how important the run game is to this team.
Before this season for Mark Fletcher
A Fort Lauderdale native and American Heritage alum, Fletcher was a consensus four-star prospect who ran for 1,934 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior and earned an All-American Bowl selection. He made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2023 with 514 yards and five scores despite missing three games, then followed with 607 rushing yards, nine TDs and 10 receptions in 2024.
Through seven games this fall, Fletcher's value is obvious. Miami can win through defense and Beck's efficiency, but its ceiling is highest when the ground game is firing on all cylinders.
