Few programs recruit like the Miami Hurricanes do. There are many factors at play here. Mario Cristobal is an elite recruiter, his alma mater is thriving, and the Canes have the financial resources to get seemingly whoever they want in the wonderful world of NIL. However, not everyone can end up playing in Coral Gables. Miami is still in the mix for five-star tight end Jaxon Dollar, but only barely...
Dollar is expected to commit on Thursday, as he will choose between Georgia, Miami, or Notre Dame.

Really good player… a major battle between Notre Dame and Georgia, two of the top programs at producing TEs in recent memory. https://t.co/BInalNziL0
According to the 247Sports Composite, Dollar is the No. 2 player from North Carolina, the No. 2 tight end in the country, and the No. 33 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class. He has 37 official offers, but really only Georgia, Miami, and Notre Dame have a chance at him. Thus far, he has been crystal balled to Notre Dame with a medium grade in that department. Georgia is very much in play here, too.
What all needs to happen for the Canes to overtake the Irish and the Dawgs to potentially land him?
Miami expected to play third-fiddle to UGA, Notre Dame for Jaxon Dollar
Let's be real with ourselves. In recent seasons, Georgia and Notre Dame have been the preeminent landing spots for the best tight ends in the country. Notre Dame recruits nationally as is, while Georgia has become a recruiting powerhouse at the position, thanks to Todd Hartley on Kirby Smart's staff. Add in Marcus Freeman providing a cool factor to Notre Dame, and the Irish may be getting him.
Dollar will be going out-of-state wherever he decides to play. Georgia has a strong history of recruiting and developing players from North Carolina. The Bulldogs do seem to be picking up momentum here. Could they be the ones to beat out Notre Dame for his five-star services? Frankly, Miami will need to back up the Brinks truck to be able to get him. For that reason, they are still in play.
Overall, even if Miami does not end up landing Dollar, just to have a seat at the table on decision day speaks volumes to how truly dominant the Hurricanes have been on the recruiting trail in recent years. Anyone who is a five-star who is serious about playing major college football has to take a good, hard look at the Canes. Cristobal may not win the battle, but he is built to win any recruiting war.
Right now, Hurricanes fans should act pleasantly surprised if Dollar is all about The U this Thursday.
