Miami added depth at tight end on Saturday with Alex Bauman from Tulane. Bauman is the 284th-ranked transfer and No. 8 TE in the 2025 portal according to the 247Sports rankings. Bauman is a short-yardage and red-zone threat. In 2024, Bauman had 20 receptions for 212 yards with 10 first-down receptions and seven touchdowns.
The Miami Hurricanes needed to add depth at TE with Elijah Arroyo entering the NFL Draft, Cam McCormick completing his eligibility and Riley Williams in the transfer portal. Miami returns Jackson Carver and Elija Lofton at TE and signed Luka Gilbert and Brock Schott in the 2025 class.
Bauman posted 63 receptions for 610 yards and 13 TDs in three seasons at Tulane. Bauman will have one season of eligibility remaining. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported that Pro Football Focus gave Bauman a 60.2 pass-blocking grade, a 43.7 run-blocking grade and played 444 of 606 snaps as an in-line TE.
Tulane TE Alex Bauman is the latest transfer commitment for Miami
Bauman has 19 receptions for 139 yards and three TDs in his career versus Power Conference opponents. Bauman scored TDs in six different games in 2024. The expectation should be for Lofton to start with Bauman as his primary backup. Bauman is the seventh transfer addition for Miami and the third on offense.
Miami received a commitment from TCU center James Brockermeyer on Friday and LSU wide receiver C.J. Daniels previously pledged to Miami. The addition of Bauman gives Miami the 13th-ranked transfer class nationally. Miami has the third highest average transfer behind Oregon and LSU.
Miami is far from finished adding transfers. The Hurricanes hosted USC transfer brothers, explosive return man and wide receiver Zachariah Branch and safety Zion Branch. Miami is reportedly competing with Arizona State and Georgia to obtain commitments from Zachariah and Zion Branch for the 2025 season as transfers.
