Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball is squarely in the mix for top-50 power forward Latrell Allmond, who has trimmed his list to nine schools. His list includes Miami, Indiana, Kansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Arizona, Maryland, Michigan State, and Oklahoma State.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Allmond is widely regarded as one of the nation’s premier frontcourt prospects. He stands at 6‑foot‑8, 225–235 pounds, and according to On3, he is the No. 5 ranked PF and the No. 2 player in Virginia.
Last season at Petersburg High School, Allmond averaged 21.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.7 steals per game, with shooting splits of 63% from the field, 44% from three-point range, and 76% from the free-throw line. On the Adidas 3SSB circuit with Team Loaded VA, he has posted 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 47.1% from three-point territory. That three-point percentage has plenty of schools looking into his skillset. Allmond was also one of the stars of the NBPA Top 100 Camp as he scored 23 points in the NBPA Top 100 game.
"“I’ve been in touch with that staff since they first got in at VCU. So my relationship has been on going with them. They were right up the road from me, so I’ve seen them multiple times and they’ve seen me a lot, too. That relationship has been there for a while.”"Latrell Allmond to Joe Tipton of On3
Allmond has already taken an official visit to Indiana, and plans to visit Kansas on August 28, along with unofficial visits to Oklahoma State, Tennessee, and Virginia. He plans to make his decision by October 13, which is his birthday. Virginia may just be the leader in the clubhouse because of the proximity for Allmond but Miami, with Jai Lucas, should not be counted out of any recruiting battle.
