Guard Noam Dovrat plans to enter the transfer portal, making him another roster question for Jai Lucas after Miami's 26-9 season and NCAA tournament run to the second round. The men's basketball portal officially opens April 7, so Lucas and his staff will have the next week to plan ahead.

Dovrat carved out a role as a situational shooter in his first season in Coral Gables. The 6-foot-5 junior put up 3.8 points and 1.0 assists per game, while shooting 46.6% from 3-point range.

Despite the limited production, Dovrat had some good moments for Miami last season. Entering the ACC tournament, Dovrat had drilled 11 of his previous 16 3-point attempts over a three-game span, and in the Boston College and SMU wins he scored 12 points in each game while going 4-for-5 from deep both times. He also hit a key transition 3 in Miami's NCAA tournament win over Missouri, then knocked down some 3-pointers in the ACC tournament semifinal loss to Virginia.

Dovrat's expected departure does not define Miami's offseason. But it does show that Lucas is heading into another offseason that will lean on the transfer portal. Guard Tru Washington also plans to enter the portal and Miami is already losing seniors Tre Donaldson, Malik Reneau and Ernest Udeh Jr.

Dovrat arrived last July after playing professionally in Israel for Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan and Hapoel Jerusalem. He averaged 5.0 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds in the Israeli Winner League and brought both pro and international experience to Lucas' first roster.

Miami will need to replace a fair amount of production from the team last year. The three seniors alone accounted for 42.0 points, 19.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game, and adding Washington and Dovrat pushes that outgoing production to 57.7 points, 23.8 rebounds and 11.1 assists.
