It is flipping season in the wonderful world of college football. To be fair, when it is not? Regardless, the Miami Hurricanes have all the momentum in the world to flip and sign pretty much whoever they want. This is a massive brand and a college football blue-blood approaching the peak of its powers. It is why Mario Cristobal and his staff have no issues going after players who are committed elsewhere.
They have just recently offered a South Carolina four-star cornerback commit in Aaumaury Fountain.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Fountain is the No. 38 player from Georgia, the No. 37 cornerback in his class, and the No. 339 overall recruit nationally in the 2027 cycle. The Warner Robins native has been committed to South Carolina since Jan. 2. He has 32 official offers including from Alabama, BYU, Georgia, Indiana, and Michigan, in addition to the South Carolina and Miami ones.
Fountain does have his official visit coming up with South Carolina in a few months on May 1 as well.
Miami is trying to flip 4-star CB Aamaury Fountain from South Carolina
It is interesting to see how Miami is getting in the mix for a well-thought-of South Carolina recruit from the middle of Georgia near Macon. South Carolina does a phenomenal job of recruiting The Peach State, frankly, because it has to. South Carolina is a good, but not great spot for in-state talent. They also share a recruiting region with arch rival Clemson out of the ACC. There is also a coaching angle.
Just like Cristobal, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer is every bit the CEO-type. While they both favor the offensive side of the ball as a former lineman and wide receiver respectively, neither were ever play-callers. They have proven to only be as good as their top assistants. Cristobal has two elite ones in Shannon Dawson and Corey Heatherman. Beamer has recently employed Mike Shula...
So what this means is for as good of a recruiting pitch as Fountain may have heard from Beamer about coming to South Carolina, Cristobal might be able to top that in coming to Miami. Of course, being in-state does give programs like Georgia and Georgia Tech a puncher's chance at him as well. We are seeing Cristobal rising to the occasion, while Beamer is starting to play the blame game again.
Overall, Fountain has not been committed to South Carolina for that long. Jan. 2 may feel like a while ago, but that was maybe six weeks ago. Miami was too busy being focused on its playoff run back then. South Carolina had a playoff-caliber team entering last season, but failed to reach a bowl game. This is a massively critical season for South Carolina. It will be interesting to see if Fountain will stick...
At this time, Fountain is one of those four-star prospects Miami may have a real shot at flipping soon.
