You've got to give it to Miami and Mario Cristobal - they sure love to keep opposing teams and rivals on their toes. It's not just the action on the field where Cristobal likely has people staying up late at night. He's also a genius out on the recruiting trail.
Miami on verge of landing homegrown talent over Florida and many others
Not long ago, it seemed like Purdue, Florida State, Kentucky and Auburn were emerging as the leaders for 4-star signal-caller Israel Adams. Seminoles fans have been dreaming of Mike Norvell pulling off a monster recruiting win.
Well, go ahead and hold the phone on that. Why? It's because on Wednesday, Miami officially entered the race to land the young man's services, with the Canes putting a new offer on the table for the touted playmaker. Could a visit to Coral Gables be in the works for this spring?
Praise the Lord!!! After a great conversation with @CoachDawson_UM I’m excited to announce that I have been offered a scholarship to play football @CanesFootball @MiamiHurricanes @MontiniFootball @CoachHo @EDGYTIM @scottybscout @offsznbrand @SWiltfong_ @TomLoy247 @AllenTrieu… pic.twitter.com/1Ap7NKbOke

Miami and Mario Cristobal have offered 4-star quarterback Israel Adams
From the looks of Adams' social media post, it was offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson who got on the phone with the QB and gave him the good news that Cristobal wants him. From our chair, something tells us this is going to change things in a big way for Adams moving forward.
As of this writing, the Canes hold four verbal pledges for the 2027 class (all in-state commits), but there's no signal-caller on the list just yet. Every year, getting a quarterback commitment early is a top priority for Cristobal and things are no different here.
There are plenty of quarterbacks high on the board for the Miami staff, but Adams getting his tender sure is telling. He'd also be a major get for Miami if he ends up giving Cristobal and Dawson the news that they're hoping to get sooner rather than later.
According to 247Sports, the 6-4, 190-pounder from Illinois is ranked four stars and the No. 2 quarterback in the country. Down the road, it wouldn't be a shock to see him bumped up to 5-star status too. With spring ball around the corner, Cristobal will want to get Adams on campus for a visit. His process will be something to monitor moving forward, no doubt.
