Miami is firmly in the mix for one of the nation's best players in the 2028 class, and five-star edge rusher Asher Ghioto just gave Hurricanes fans another reason to pay attention this week.

Ghioto shared a Miami-themed "Just Work" graphic to his Instagram Story, a small but notable message from a recruit Miami has made a major priority early in the cycle. The Jacksonville Bolles standout is one of the top edge rushers in the country and has already built a strong relationship with Hurricanes defensive line coach Jason Taylor.

5-star EDGE Asher Ghioto sends a clear message to Miami

Ghioto has offers from nearly every major program and remains early in a national recruitment. But Miami has put itself in a strong position through repeated campus visits and direct work with Taylor.

Ghioto visited Miami during the spring and returned to Coral Gables for the Hurricanes' annual Legends Camp in June.

Ghioto measures in at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, and Rivals ranks him as the No. 8 prospect nationally, the No. 2 edge rusher and the No. 3 player in Florida in the 2028 class. His Rivals Industry Ranking places him No. 7 overall and No. 2 at the position.

In his sophomore season, Ghioto posted 84 tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 23 sacks in 15 games during the 2025 season. He also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and recorded an interception.

Miami has recent proof that elite edge rushers can develop into top NFL prospects in Coral Gables. Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor just became first-round picks after their college careers.

Florida, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and several other programs remain involved. Rivals' current Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida the highest percentage, followed by Florida State. But it's still very early on in the prospect.
