Mario Cristobal was serious about building depth at the quarterback position for the future.
Last week, the Miami Hurricanes received a commitment from Israel Abrams, one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. And today, the Hurricanes added to the quarterback room by getting a pledge from in-state prospect Knox Annis, a 2028 prospect that has been starting for his high school since he was a freshman.

Annis already had some pretty strong offers from Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Florida State and others. Miami offered him over a year ago and he was on campus at least once this spring and was on the visit list for a few games last season.
2028 QB Knox Annis commits to Miami
The Miami Hurricanes have had major transfer portal acquisitions at quarterback over the past three seasons, but Mario Cristobal understands that is probably not sustainable and building depth at the most important position is a priority. By adding Abrams and Annis, the hope is that the Hurricanes have their arms of the future that can carry the program into the next decade.
Annis plays for Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, a scbool that has produced several FBS quarterbacks including Carson Beck. Annis told Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports that his relationship with Beck played a part in his belief that the Hurricanes were the best fit for him.
"I know Carson. We train with the same people. I look up to him a lot, actually. He's a good dude," Annis said. "He plays the quarterback position the right way. Hopefully, in a couple of years, I'm in the same situation he's in now."
Annis, who is listed at 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-3 depending on the website you choose and over 200 pounds, came into his own last season, throwing for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. Mandarin has been one of the more successful programs in the state over the past several years and Annis should be more of a following this season now that he is committed to a major program.
