Miami just landed the commitment of 2027 signal-caller Israel Abrams. Abrams is rated the No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class in the 247Sports rankings.

Abrams said Miami felt like a place where he could "pursue my dreams," and his focus was on winning.

"I think that's a place where I can pursue my dreams and do something I want to do, which is just win and win games for my teammates."

Abrams also said his goal when he gets to Coral Gables is to chase national championships and put himself in Heisman conversations right away.

"When I get to Miami, my only thing will be to try and win us a national championship every year and I want to be in the Heisman talk through the jump. Some people might take it as naiveness, but I don’t see it that way because I've never seen it that way."

Abrams brings elite production to Miami

As a junior at Montini Catholic in Illinois, he completed 233 of 340 passes for 4,072 yards, 40 touchdowns and six interceptions, while adding 224 rushing yards and 10 more scores. He led Montini to a 14-0 record and the Illinois Class 4A state championship.

Abrams took over as Montini's starter during the 2024 season and has won back-to-back state championships.

Abrams is a significant quarterback win for Mario Cristobal

Miami has been aggressive at quarterback under Cristobal, but the formula has looked different from year to year. The Hurricanes have continued to sign high school passers, while also leaning on experienced transfers to keep the program ready to win right away.

Abrams now gives Miami a blue-chip high school centerpiece in 2027, and he is the highest-ranked quarterback Cristobal has landed since taking over the program.
