Four-star defensive back Jaylyn Jones, a Miami commit from McArthur High School in Hollywood, Fla., is locked in with the Hurricanes and shutting down his recruitment as the summer official visit window heats up.
4-star DB commit shuts down recruitment
Jones committed to Miami on June 23, 2025, giving the Hurricanes another top South Florida piece early in the 2027 cycle. He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 182 pounds, and 247Sports ranks him as the No. 228 overall prospect and No. 16 safety in the class.
As a sophomore, Jones finished with 82 tackles, three interceptions, 14 pass breakups, three sacks and a forced fumble before transferring to McArthur.
In his junior season, Jones logged 27 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during the 2025 season.
2027 Miami commits that have shut down their recruitments
Miami has had several 2027 commits publicly shut down, or effectively shut down their recruitments. Five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear took his official visit to Miami this past weekend and later shut things down. Five-star defensive lineman Jaiden Bryant did the same after flipping from LSU to Miami, canceling official visits to South Carolina, Texas A&M and LSU.
Five-star cornerback Donte Wright Jr. also shut things down after flipping from Georgia to Miami, ending a recruitment that had previously included official visits to UCLA, Georgia, Miami, Michigan and Oregon. Cornerback Ai'King Hall's official visit to Miami helped cement his decision before he shut down his recruitment after flipping from Oregon.
Linebacker A.J. Randle Jr. said his Miami commitment would effectively shut down his recruitment after a process that included South Carolina, NC State, Florida, Miami, Ohio State and Georgia. Offensive lineman Jatori Williams had been scheduled to announce after taking a full slate of official visits, but instead committed to Miami.
Linebacker Noah Glover has also made it clear Miami is where he wants to be and that he will not take any more visits. Defensive back Sherrod Gourdine committed after attending Miami's first spring practice and decided to shut things down while on campus.
