Miami and Mario Cristobal in the race for dynamic 2027 4-star cornerback

Four-star cornerback Josiah Molden, a West Linn, Ore., standout, has trimmed his recruitment to six schools and included Miami among his finalists.

Molden's top six is full of heavy-hitters: Ohio State, USC, Miami, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

Molden is billed as the No. 1 player in Oregon in the 2027 cycle, and he's listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds.

The family tree is also a big part of why college staffs have been on him early. Molden is the younger brother of Elijah Molden, an NFL defensive back for the Los Angeles Chargers. Their father, Alex Molden, was the No. 11 overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft and spent years in the league after starring at Oregon.

Miami has been on Molden for a while, too. The Hurricanes offered him in June 2025, and that could help them pull an elite West Coast prospect to South Florida.

Four-star WR Jaden Upshaw

Miami has also recently found itself in the running for 4-star 2027 WR, Jaden Upshaw. Upshaw trimmed his recruitment to six programs: Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Southern California, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Upshaw has taken four unofficial visits to Florida, and two each to Auburn and Georgia. Miami, USC, Alabama and Clemson have each had one visit. Upshaw was in Coral Gables for Miami's 26-7 win over Florida.
