Miami just added another body up front out of the transfer portal, with East Tennessee State interior offensive lineman Johnathan Cline announcing he is transferring to the Hurricanes.

Cline, listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, gives Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal an experienced option for the interior as the program continues to stockpile depth in the trenches.

The 2025 season was Cline's first at ETSU after spending two years at UCF. He entered that year with preseason recognition, earning second-team preseason All-Southern Conference honors.

Cline's path to Miami has been a long one, and it circles back to a recruitment that once included the Hurricanes. As a Cartersville High School standout in Georgia, he scheduled an official visit to Miami in June 2022 while also lining up a trip to UCF. That recruitment ended with Cline committing to UCF in August 2022, giving the Knights another offensive line pledge as they were building toward their move into the Big 12.

Cline started at left tackle for Cartersville High and helped power an offense that averaged 37.4 points per game, along with 198 rushing yards per game and 45 rushing touchdowns.

From an eligibility standpoint, Cline is a redshirt sophomore and still has multiple seasons left at the FBS level.

Cline may not arrive with the same buzz as a blue-chip tackle, but he has matured physically and can be a potential starter for the Canes in 2026.
