Miami and Mario Cristobal looking to flip 4-star Georgia cornerback commit

The Miami Hurricanes are reportedly making an effort to flip four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman from his commitment to the University of Georgia. Wyman, a standout at Jonesboro High School in Georgia, has been committed to the Bulldogs since July 2024. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 175 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 36 cornerback nationally and the No. 45 prospect in Georgia for the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.

Despite his commitment to Georgia, Wyman has acknowledged the persistent recruitment efforts from other programs. He noted that Miami and the University of Southern California (USC) are "coming hard," with the University of Nebraska also expressing interest. Wyman has scheduled official visits to Miami, Nebraska, and USC, showing an openness to exploring other programs despite his commitment to Georgia. This development has placed Wyman on "flip watch," with the potential for him to reconsider his commitment very high.​

Miami's recruitment strategy under Cristobal has been marked by a focus on strengthening the defensive backfield. The pursuit of Wyman aligns with this objective, as securing a player of his caliber would significantly help the Hurricanes' secondary. Last week Miami secured the commitment of Jaelen Waters, a four-star cornerback out of Seffner, Armwood. Waters is the No. 150 prospect, No. 15 CB and No. 22 player in Florida in the 2026 class. He was previously commited to the University of Florida and Florida State.
