Mario Cristobal's search for the best trench warriors in the country never ends, it only intensifies and now the Miami Hurricanes are the clear-cut favorites to land 4-star Houston-area prospect Ezekiel Ayangbile.

Currently, On3 gives the Hurricanes a 93 percent chance of landing the 6-foot-2, 260-pound defensive lineman. Ayangbile is expected to announce his commitment on Friday.

Miami is trending strongly to land commitment from top DL target Ezekiel Ayangbile

Ayangbile is a really intriguing prospect. He's a talented big body with significant upside. But what I really enjoy is the versatility he presents. Not many defensive linemen out of high school have experience playing in three-man fronts. It's just not something regularly done in high school football, even at the higher levels. But Ayangbile plays in Houston and the prep football there is pretty solid across the board.

The Hurricanes seem set to land their 10th commitment of the 2027 recruiting class and their fourth on the offensive or defensive line. LSU has been a program that's been trying to pull Ayangbile away, and you know the way Lane Kiffin and the Tigers love to throw money around, but it feels like the Hurricanes continue to have the inside track.

If there was any program to keep an eye on in the 11th hour, it's Virginia Tech. Ayangbile is a legacy recruit for the Hokies. His father, Duane Brown, a former NFL All-Pro offensive lineman, played there and is in the Hokies Hall of Fame and his mother, Ciera Ayangbile, was a member of the Hokies track & field program. As a matter of fact, Ayangbile has official visits scheduled for Miami on May 29 and Virginia Tech the following weekend, so while his commitment announcement is scheduled for Friday, it might be another month before the pledge is firm.

Ayangbile says that he wants to be at a program that is focused on development, and it's hard to think of many other programs in the country that invest the amount of time into developing linemen as much as Miami does. Cristobal and his staff have a process that leads to success, so why would Ayangbile go anywhere else?
