The Miami Hurricanes got one of the country's top 2027 cornerbacks, and a current Georgia pledge, back to Coral Gables for a spring practice visit.

Donte Wright is a Long Beach Poly defensive back who has been committed to Georgia since June 30. He has kept his options open and continues to give Miami, Oregon, Michigan, UCLA and Auburn a long look.

Donte Wright's upcoming visit schedule

  • UCLA: May 15-17
  • Georgia: May 29-31
  • Miami: June 5-7
  • Michigan: June 12-14
  • Oregon: June 19-21
  • Auburn: still to be determined

Miami is trying to flip Donte Wright from Georgia

Wright is one of the best defensive backs in the country. The Rivals Industry Ranking places him No. 21 nationally, No. 3 at cornerback and No. 2 in California. 247Sports has him at No. 34 overall, No. 5 at corner and No. 3 in the state.

Wright finished his junior season with 25 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two sacks and a forced fumble in seven games. As a sophomore, he logged 23 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception and five pass breakups.

On3's industry team rankings have Miami No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC, with seven early commitments and four blue-chip prospects already in the fold. The class already includes safety Jaylyn Jones and cornerback Sherrod Gourdine.

There is still work to do for Miami. Oregon is the program trending most strongly to flip Wright and he has also been upfront that Georgia knew he planned to keep taking visits. With another trip already set for June, the Hurricanes have at least given themselves a chance to make this a possibility.

Miami has shown it can pry talent away from Georgia. The Hurricanes flipped defensive back Jontavius Wyman from the Bulldogs last cycle and also pulled four-star receiver Vance Spafford away from Kirby Smart's class.
