Bleacher Report just dropped its 2027 NFL mock draft and there are so many good nuggets in this thing, where do we even start?
It's got to be Darian Mensah going No. 1 overall.
Darian Mensah goes No. 1 to the Arizona Cardinals
This pick is admittedly a bit surprising. It's not like we haven't been singing his praises all offseason, we just haven't really heard it outside the Miami bubble just yet. It mainly feels like a midseason prediction rather than a preseason one. But Miami fans will certainly welcome it.
Although that's also not even the biggest storyline of the No. 1 pick. Mensah would also presumably battle Carson Beck for the starting job. If Arizona is picking first overall then that means that 2026-27 did not work out for Beck and Jacoby Brissett. And odds are that Brissett won't be with them next year.
Other draft picks from the Bleacher Report's first round 2027 mock draft
- The Miami Dolphins take Jeremiah Smith at No. 2 overall, reuniting a South Florida high school prospect with his hometown team.
- QBs are flying off the board in this mock draft: After Mensah is selected No. 1, Arch Manning goes No. 3 to the Jets, Dante Moore is selected with the No. 4 pick by the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers take Drew Mestemaker No. 13 overall.
- Two RBs go in the first round: Jadan Baugh from UF goes to the Patriots at No. 23 and Ahmad Hardy out of Missouri goes No. 28 to the Texans.
- The Texas Longhorns have four prospects selected in the top 10: Arch Manning, Cam Coleman, Colin Simmons and Trevor Goosby.
Ahmad Moten Sr. is selected with the No. 30 pick by the Seattle Seahawks
Moten enters the season with the most NFL buzz on the defensive line for the Canes. His size and speed should catch the eyes of plenty of GMs as the college season progresses. The reasoning for this pick for the Seahawks is that they will need to address an aging defensive line which has defined their recent success, so Moten fits the bill of a crucial need. And he also comes off the board after seven DL/EDGE players are chosen.
DL Justin Scott rounds out the first round and goes to the Cleveland Browns
If the draft plays out like Bleacher Report is predicting, the Longhorns' success will be the story of the night. But Miami would also end with three players selected in the opening round.
Scott has a lot of promise but hasn't put it all together just yet, so this is more of a projection of what they think he will do this season (as is the case with a lot of the players). The Browns have this pick from the Myles Garrett trade and will make sure that the defensive line stays a strong point with Scott.
