Miami outscored Niagara 35-3 in a season-opening sweep this weekend in Coral Gables. After winning the season opener 14-2, Miami won 10-0 on Saturday and 11-1 on Sunday. Miami had three solid, if not dominant, pitching performances and different hitting stars throughout the weekend.
Designated hitter Bobby Marsh had four hits in four at-bats with two runs scored, four runs batted in, and two doubles on Friday night. Making the first start of his career, Nick Robert pitched five innings allowing four hits, one earned run and four strikeouts to earn the win.
On Saturday, Miami scored three runs each in the first, third and fifth innings and one in the sixth to earn the 10-0 shutout. Catcher Tanner Smith had four hits in four at-bats with three runs scored and three RBIs. First baseman Todd Hudson was 3-3 with two runs scored, three RBIs and a home run.
Griffin Hugus started for Miami and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one hit and no runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Hugus had a no-hitter for 5.1 innings before allowing a single to right fielder Nate Mil Three Miami relievers did not allow a hit and had four strikeouts over the final three innings.

After Niagara scored in the first on Sunday, Miami answered to tie the game and added runs in every inning but the second on their way to the 11-1 run-rule victory. Second baseman Dorian Gonzalez was 2-2 with a run scored and two RBIs and Jake Ogden, who started for Daniel Cuvet at third, was 2-4 with a run scored.
Brian Walters was the starter on Sunday and went 5.0 innings allowing three hits with one run, one earned, with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Michael Fernandez and Brixton Lofgren each pitched an inning, allowing one hit and combining for five strikeouts to send Niagara home.
Miami plays at Florida Atlantic on Tuesday before hosting Princeton for a three-game series that begins on Friday and includes a doubleheader on Saturday. Miami head coach J.D. Arteaga has not named a starter versus FAU.
