The No. 23 Hurricanes erupted for a 30-5 win to complete a four-game sweep against Lafayette and move to 9-0 on the season. Miami finished with 25 hits and nine home runs, including five homers in a single inning, a new program record, during a 12-run fourth.
Miami won the four games 15-2, 14-4, 14-3 and 30-5, outscoring Lafayette 73-14 for the weekend.

Miami defeats Lafayette 30-5 to move to 9-0 on the season
The Hurricanes scored five in the first inning, then added two more in the third to lead 7-1 before the fourth-inning avalanche. Miami scored in seven of eight innings and got home runs from eight different players.
The historic inning was built around Daniel Cuvet, who homered twice in it, including a grand slam, as Miami sent 17 batters to the plate in the fourth. Cuvet's solo shot started the inning, Derek Williams followed with another, then Cuvet came back up later and launched the grand slam. Alex Sosa added a solo homer and Brylan West closed the homer parade with a three-run shot as the Hurricanes pushed the game to 19-1.
Cuvet finished with six RBIs. Jailen Watkins drove in seven, highlighted by a grand slam in the eighth. Freshman Dylan Dubovik went 5-for-6 with two doubles, two stolen bases and two RBIs.
On the mound, right-hander Tate DeRias earned the win after allowing one run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. Lyndon Glidewell, Jack Durso, Brixton Lofgren and Michael Fernandez combined for four scoreless innings of relief before Lafayette pushed across four runs in the ninth.
The 30 runs were the second-most in program history. Miami's school record remains 33 runs, set in a 33-0 win over C.W. Post on March 5, 2000.
The nine-homer day also landed in rare air. Miami's single-game home run record is nine, set April 2, 1979, and Sunday's outburst matched that standard.
Just a week ago, Miami closed opening weekend by beating Lehigh 27-3 and setting a program record with 15 runs in a single inning.
Next up is Miami's first road game of the season, a Wednesday night trip to FAU in Boca Raton. Then the schedule cranks up again with Florida coming to Coral Gables for a three-game series beginning Feb. 27.
