Miami baseball lands first 2028 commit in Fort Myers left-hander Jessie Feast Jr.

Miami baseball opened its 2028 class last week with a commitment from left-handed pitcher Jessie Feast Jr., a Bishop Verot product from Fort Myers who is ranked among the top 25 players nationally and No. 3 among left-handers in Florida.

Feast announced the commitment last Wednesday and he is the Hurricanes' first verbal commit in the cycle.

Feast is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds and throws left. Perfect Game has his fastball at 89 mph, a mark that sits in the 99th percentile among 2028 arms. His slider has been in the mid-70s with sweep, and he sells a changeup in the upper 70s to low 80s.

His sophomore season at Bishop Verot has some good tape. The Vikings finished 18-9 under coach Casey Scott and Feast went 1-2 with one save in six appearances. He threw 11 2/3 innings, struck out 19, walked 10 and hit three batters (4.20 ERA, 1.63 WHIP).

Feast also pitches for CBU's 2028 scout team, and he logged a 12-strikeout game in June 2025. He threw five innings in July 2026 and later that month had a no-hit, no-walk appearance against the Florida Stars 16U. He also accepted an invite to the 2026 Future Games before he committed to Miami.

Miami went 39-20 in 2026, finished 16-14 (fifth in the ACC), and reached the conference tournament semifinals in J.D. Arteaga's third season.

It was the program's best regular season of his tenure after going 27-30 in 2024 and 35-27 in 2025. The Hurricanes opened the Gainesville Regional, and lost 22-10 to Florida and 9-6 to Troy after blowing a four-run lead. Despite the disappointing finish, there were a lot of positives from the season. Miami has not been to Omaha since 2016 and is looking to change that in the 2027 season.
