The No. 22 Miami Hurricanes swept Lehigh in the first three games of the 2026 season, winning 13-2 on Friday, 17-11 on Saturday and 27-3 in seven innings on Sunday. Miami scored 57 total runs over the weekend, which is the most it has ever scored in its first three games of a season.
Miami vs Lehigh Game 1
After Lehigh scored the first run in the third inning following a Miami fielding error, the Hurricanes responded with a six-run third to take the lead. Max Galvin started the surge with a bases-clearing double, then Alex Sosa followed with a three-run homer as Miami grabbed control and never let it go. On the mound, right-hander AJ Ciscar looked sharp in the opener, going five innings with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Miami vs Lehigh Game 2
Lehigh came out swinging, taking a 3-0 lead in the first on a passed ball and a two-run homer from Aidan Quinn, but Miami answered with a six-run bottom of the first. Sosa and Derek Williams turned the middle innings into a home run derby, with both players hitting two homers in the 17-11 win, including a pair of back-to-back blasts that pushed Miami’s lead out again in the fifth.
The Mountain Hawks finished with 11 runs on 13 hits and four homers, including solo shots from Raffaele Rogers and Trystan Crawford, plus a three-run homer by Joey Esposito in the ninth. Miami's bullpen answer was TJ Coats, who earned the win in relief with 3 1/3 innings, five strikeouts, and only one earned run allowed.
Miami vs Lehigh Game 3
Miami finished the sweep with a 27-3 win in seven innings, highlighted by a 15-run fifth inning that is the most runs Miami has ever scored in a single inning, breaking the previous record of 14 set against Mercer in 1988.
Right-hander Tate DeRias gave Miami control early, striking out a program-record nine batters while working 4.2 innings. Offensively, Miami got a two-run homer from Daniel Cuvet, a three-run homer from Gabriel Milano (the first of his career), and a huge day from freshman Alonzo Alvarez, who had a triple and two doubles in his first career start. Miami also went 15-for-24 with runners in scoring position.
Lehigh did have a few moments. Rogers homered again Sunday, and Quinn drove in a run with an RBI double, but Miami's fifth inning effectively ended the game on the spot.
Miami's next game is a midweek matchup with UCF at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mark Light Field.
