Miami could be on the verge of beating Oregon and Oklahoma for 4-star WR

Milan Parris has been a top priority for Miami since his de-commitment from Iowa State, and now he may be ready to commit to the Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

Since 2026 four-star wide receiver Milan Parris de-committed from Iowa State in early October, Miami has been pushing hard to land his commitment. On Tuesday night, Mario Cristobal and his staff will find out if all of their effort was worth it.

Parris is set to commit on Tuesday night, a few days after his weekend visit to Miami, and according to Gaby Urrutia of Canes247, Miami has “momentum heading into the announcement.”

Oregon and Oklahoma are the two other top contenders for Parris’s commitment. Those are two strong programs with high-level NIL operations, but the Sooners could be fading away after flipping former Penn State WR commit Jahseiar Rogers on Monday. Oklahoma could still be interested in adding Parris, but it’s unlikely that the Sooners will land two 2026 wide receivers in back-to-back days this late into the recruiting cycle.

Miami has talent at wide receiver in its 2026 class, but could use a 6-foot-5, 205-pound outside target like Parris as a compliment to its current class and true freshman Malachi Toney, who leads the team with 43 catches for 562 yards and three touchdowns.

Toney is a speed threat with enough vertical pressure on defensive backs to play on the outside, but at 5-foot-11, he’s most effective working from the slot. Parris is a true outside wide receiver who wins with his combination of size and speed to win at the catch point. He likely won’t be an immediate contributor, but will grow into a red zone target and chain-mover if he refines his route-running ability.

Miami already has three wide receivers committed in a 23-player 2026 class, which ranks No. 12 in the country. Somourian Wingo is the highest-rated of the three by 247Composite Rankings, slotting in at No. 101 nationally. Vance Spafford is ranked as the 115th overall player while Tyran Evans, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound commit from North Carolina is the 465th-ranked player and 67th-ranked wide receiver.

That influx of talent could be important. Though Toney is returning for his sophomore season in 2026, CJ Daniels, the Hurricanes’ second-leading wide receiver in terms of catches and yards, is in his final season of eligibility after transferring from LSU.

Parris could be Miami’s last chance to make a major splash in the 2026 class, so Tuesday night’s announcement will be big one for Cristobal’s staff.
