Miami could do Florida fans a huge favor on Saturday with a dominant win

The Miami Hurricanes could take a massive weight off of Florida's shoulders with a big win over the Gators in Week 4.

It isn't often that a fanbase roots for a rival team to lose to an in-state rival, but the Florida Gator crowd might be doing just that on Saturday when they visit the Miami Hurricanes.

With Florida head coach Billy Napier flying toward unemployment following losses to USF and LSU, the Gators are ready to have a new frontman running the show. In Week 4, when Napier lines up his squad against Mario Cristobal's team, both fanbases might be rooting for the Canes.

If Miami can pull off the (slightly expected) big win over Florida, it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, and the Gators may just fire their head coach.

So far this season, Napier has led Florida to a 1-3 record, with an embarrassing two-point loss to the USF Bulls and a highly disappointing 10-point loss to the LSU Tigers. Simply put, the Gators are ready to wash their hands clean of Napier.

In fact, it has gotten so bad in Gainesville that one college football fanatic pointed out that even if Billy Napier won the next 27 consecutive games, he still wouldn't have the winning percentage that Dan Mullen, the Florida head coach prior to him, had before getting fired.

Making matters even worse is the fact that ESPN's College GameDay will be in town for the in-state rivalry matchup, meaning that the entire country will be tuned in to see how the game unfolds later that night.

So far this season, Miami has already defeated the then-No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Bethune-Cookman, and the then-No. 18 USF Bulls (yes, the very ones that beat Florida a week earlier).

Napier and the Gators aren't expected to win this game, but as a rivalry game, they are "supposed" to keep it interesting. If they can't hang on and the Hurricanes blow them out of the water, then Miami may hand Florida its best excuse yet to fire its head coach.

No. 4 Miami and unranked Florida are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 20. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
