Miami could get commitment from 4-star TE next week

Miami could get a commitment from 4-star TE Israel Briggs on June 24.

​​4-star tight end Israel Briggs has officially scheduled his college commitment announcement for Tuesday, June 24. Briggs is a 6‑foot‑5, 205‑pound athlete from Redwood High and has received interest from programs including LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Arizona State and California, among others. Briggs is ranked as the No. 70 recruit in the nation, No. 6 TE and No. 10 player in California. He also holds a 93 rating on 247Sports.

He spent part of his spring visiting some of these campuses, logging several official visits. Briggs is narrowing his decision down to LSU and Miami; two solid programs with proven success in developing tight ends for the NFL. Briggs recently went on an official visit to LSU on June 7 and Miami on June 16. Other OV's Briggs has been on include Texas A&M on June 20, Cal on May 29, and Arizona State on April 25. The official visit to Arizona State came just three days after he decommitted from the Sun Devils and now it appears they are officially out of the race.

Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst, offered some insight on Briggs and how versatile of an athlete he is:

"Briggs is a jumbo receiver who will move to tight end in college. He's one of the most versatile players in the region and over the last three years, has taken snaps at receiver, tight end, running back, quarterback, linebacker, safety and edge. Multi-sport background as well who does the jumps and short sprints in track and is a two-time all-league selection in basketball."

In nine games last year he recorded 44 receptions for 571 yards, averaging 63.4 yards per game and about 13 yards per reception. The commitment is scheduled for June 24, and will be held on campus at Redwood High and seen via local media and social platforms.
