It just feels like some major news is coming soon for Miami and Mario Cristobal, right?
With the Canes hard at work during spring ball, Cristobal is taking full advantage of things by bringing in some of the best players in the country for visits. This includes 5-star EDGE DJ Jacobs, who is currently committed to Ohio State. Despite that, he made his way to Coral Gables and things seem to be going well.
Could a flip be in the works sooner rather than later? That's what Miami fans everywhere are hoping for and Dennis Smith seems to have subtly given people extra hope. That's because a tweet of his is going viral among the fanbase. So, why would Smith post a photo of some spatulas? Because he's got a flip on his mind, that's why:

Miami and Mario Cristobal are working overtime to flip 5-star Ohio State commit DJ Jacobs
Smith, Miami's Executive Director for Football, sure has a lot of folks talking right now and he's likely got the Ohio State faithful quite worried. Jacobs has been committed to Ohio State since December, but that hasn't stopped several other teams from working to change his mind.
With him being from Georgia, the expectation was that Kirby Smart and the Dawgs would be the ones working hardest to land his pledge, but it's now the Canes who are hoping to land a recruiting haymaker on Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.
Should Miami end up pulling this off, it indeed would be groundbreaking news. Jacobs is ranked five stars, the No. 1 EDGE in the country and No. 1 prospect overall for the 2027 class per the 247Sports rankings. He's picked up 38 offers this cycle, which highlights just how badly teams want him.
For now, Jacobs is Columbus-bound for his college career, as he's expected to be a game-changer in the Big Ten. However, Miami won't go down without a fight and Smith has given people a ton of optimism that maybe, just maybe a major announcement could be on the way. Yup, Jacobs no question is on flip watch moving forward, as Miami is ready to make a massive splash.
