The ACC Network began the Miami at Texas A&M College Football Playoff game simulcasting Hurricanes' announcers, Joe Zagacki on play-by-play, Don Bailey Jr. providing analysis and Josh Darrow working on the sideline.

Sometime during the first quarter, the simulcast with the WQAM Miami broadcast and the Texas A&M announcers was flipped. The WQAM broadcast flipped to the SEC Network and the Texas A&M announcers were on the ACC Network.

It took a few drives, but the hometown calls were finally flipped back to the networks they belong on. Miami fans were furious with the broadcast gaffe. For Miami fans not in South Florida, the ACC Network simulcast is the only way to listen to Zagacki, Bailey Jr. and Darrow.

Joe Z and DBJ have worked as a team announcing Miami games since the early 2000s. Darrow has been the Miami sideline announcer since 1999. Zagacki began as a Miami announcer during the 1983 National Championship season on the sideline.

Miami and Texas A&M are in a defensive CFP battle

The Miami simulcast replaced a basketball triple header on the ACC Network that also had fans upset. The three scheduled games were Montana at Louisville, Lafayette at Georgia Tech and Northeastern at Syracuse.

There has not been an explanation or anything released by the ACC or SEC Networks or ESPN (which owns both networks) about what caused the flip of the audio from the hometown networks. The WQAM broadcast provides Miami fans with insight that the ESPN national broadcast doesn't have.

The broadcast faux pas from the ACC Network is another cause for Miami fans to be frustrated with the conference. Miami missed out on the ACC Championship Game because of the fifth tiebreaker after finishing in a five-way tie for second place with Duke, Georgia Tech, SMU, and Pitt all finishing 6-2 in conference play during the 2025 regular season.
