As the Miami Hurricanes prepare for the College Football Playoff, the coaching and recruiting staff is doing more than just focusing on the upcoming game.
The Canes are freshly off a top-10 class of 2026 and are already on the hunt to do just as well, if not better, with the class of 2027. So far, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has landed four prospects from the class, putting the Hurricanes in eighth in the national recruiting rankings.
Quinton Cypher could be the commitment that breaks the Canes' class into the top five. Cypher, a four-star linebacker in the class of 2027, announced his final four schools just days ahead of his commitment and included none other than Miami in the group.
Quinton Cypher eying the Hurricanes
Cypher listed the Canes alongside the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Georgia Bulldogs, knocking his home-state teams (Duke, NC State, and UNC) out of contention.

Where Should He Go?https://t.co/dNj283DNzJ pic.twitter.com/J0wBO6prGX
Trust me, the Canes want this guy on their roster. During his first three seasons of varsity football, he amassed 511 total tackles (291 solo), 88 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks for 149 yards, nine interceptions for 94 yards, 16 pass deflections, eight hurries, five forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.
So yeah, this guy is pretty dang good, and he still has another season of high school football before he comes to the collegiate level.
Currently, Rivals gives the Buckeyes an 88.1 percent chance to land his commitment, but the recruiting site has yet to update the odds following Cypher's final-four announcement. On 247Sports, zero experts have logged their predictions as to where the four-star prospect will end up.

While Cypher is set to commit later this week, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett, the exact date and time of his commitment have yet to be announced. Miami fans (and anyone else who is interested in where he ends up) simply need to keep their eyes and ears open.
