Miami football's CFP title odds are a slap in the face to Mario Cristobal and players

Even after proving their defensive dominance in the first round, the Miami Hurricanes are far from favorites to win the National Championship.

The Miami Hurricanes just put on a defensive masterclass against the No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies, yet most people have little faith that they could keep pulling off the upset victories, and that includes the oddsmakers in Vegas.

In FanDuel's latest betting odds for which team would win the National Championship, the Sportsbook only gave Miami +2200 odds to win it all.

That put the Canes in second-to-last, only ahead of the Ole Miss Rebels and a far cry from the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were given +180 odds to clinch the back-to-back national title.

Disrespect should fuel Miami in the CFP

The complete and utter doubt in the Hurricanes should do nothing but fuel Miami to prove everyone wrong. Head coach Mario Cristobal and his players were completely disrespected by the oddsmakers, and the Canes' mindset should be, 'let them.'

Despite the Hurricanes holding the Aggies (a team that averaged over 36.6 points per game throughout the regular season) to just three points, there is little faith that the defense could push the team to another win.

Now, don't get me wrong, the Ohio State Buckeyes are an entirely different monster than Texas A&M, and the Buckeyes' defense could wreak even more havoc on Carson Beck and the rest of the Miami offense than the Aggies did.

But still, +2200 odds? Come on. The Canes trail the Alabama Crimson Tide (+1800), which has struggled mightily over the last few games of the year, as well as the Texas Tech Red Raiders (+950), whose toughest opponent in the regular season was BYU.

If No. 10 Miami pulls off the upset and defeats No. 2 Ohio State, oddsmakers have to start taking the Hurricanes seriously, something they should have done already.
