The Miami Hurricanes added a powerful new weapon to their 2026 recruiting class on Thursday as four-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo committed to the program, choosing the Hurricanes over Florida and South Carolina. The St. Augustine native becomes the third receiver in Miami’s current class, joining Vance Spafford and Tyran Evans.

Wingo, ranked No. 141 nationally and No. 24 at his position in the On3 Industry rankings, had official visits to Miami on May 30, Florida on June 6, and South Carolina on June 20. Despite the SEC competition, the Hurricanes stood out thanks to strong connections with their staff.

“Everyone at Miami is like family... I built a relationship with everyone from the staff to the players and assistants at Miami. I love the culture too,” Wingo told Rivals.

At 6-foot-3 and roughly 185 pounds, Wingo posted an impressive junior campaign with 65 catches for 1,040 yards and 12 touchdowns. Wingo also shined on the basketball court, averaging 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.5 assists during his junior season.

Miami already ranks among the top ACC classes for 2026 and currently sits at No. 11 nationally. Wingo’s inclusion boosts the Hurricanes future on offense and helps their depth alongside fellow wideouts Spafford and Evans. Wingo and Spafford are both rated as 4-star recruits by On3, although Spafford is higher and is the second-highest Miami commit behind OT Jackson Cantwell.

After a lot of turnover in the WR corps from last year, it appears as though Miami is committed to building through high school recruiting when it comes to beyond this upcoming season. But, looking at 2025, the Hurricanes have done a good job at piecing together a dynamic offense (on paper) with transfers such as BYU's Keelan Marion, Cincinnati's Tony Johnson and LSU's C.J. Daniels. With QB Carson Beck coming in, the Canes will look to replicate the offensive magic from 2024.
