Miami gains major commitment from All-American in transfer portal

The Miami Hurricanes have secured a significant commitment to their roster with Keelan Marion, a dynamic wide receiver and kick returner transferring in from BYU. Marion announced his decision on Saturday to On3, choosing Miami over offers from schools such as Tennessee, SMU, Arizona State, Kentucky and others.

Marion brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the Hurricanes. In his career he’s totaled 76 receptions for 1,125 yards and 12 total touchdowns. On special teams he has 38 kick returns for 881 yards and three touchdowns.

During the 2024 season at BYU, he recorded 24 receptions for 346 yards and a touchdown, along with 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The 2024 season saw him emerge as a premier return specialist, earning First-Team All-American honors and Second Team All-Big 12. He averaged 26.2 yards per kick return. Marion returned 18 kickoffs on the year for 472 yards total yards, including a 100-yard return against Wyoming and a 96-yard return versus Utah. During his first season at BYU in 2023, Marion recorded 20 receptions for 216 yards and had three rushing touchdowns.

Before his time at BYU, Marion began his collegiate career at UConn, where he made an immediate impact as a freshman with 28 catches for 474 yards and five touchdowns. His 2022 season was limited due to a collarbone injury, resulting in four catches for 89 yards and one touchdown. His injury-plagued sophomore campaign was his last at UConn.

Marion's decision to join Miami gives the program the transfer wide receiver they have been looking for since the spring window opened. Marion's addition is anticipated to provide a significant boost to both the offense, which is replacing its top six receivers, as well as its special teams unit. He was one of the highest rated players in the transfer portal.
