Miami's 2027 recruiting class had a strong showing at The Opening Finals, and the event could become part of a much bigger week for the Hurricanes.

Rivals placed Miami cornerback commit Donte Wright at No. 6 on its overall top performers list from The Opening. Four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard checked in one spot behind him at No. 7 as he prepares to announce his college decision on June 30.

Miami is one of three finalists for Woodard along with Cal and UCLA.

Wright has been a staple of Miami's class since flipping from Georgia in May. The Long Beach Poly standout is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the Rivals Industry Ranking. He backed up that standing against elite competition at The Opening.

Wright recorded an interception during Day 2, and the final overall list put him ahead of several highly ranked prospects from around the country. Louisville wide receiver commit Ja'Hyde Brown was named the event's MVP, while Wright finished as the highest-ranked defensive back on the final top 10 list.

Wright finished his 2025 junior season with 25 tackles, two sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and seven pass breakups in seven games at Long Beach Poly.

Wright also has a useful connection in Woodard's recruitment

Woodard told Rivals he is close with Wright and said having another California prospect at Miami would help with the adjustment of moving far from home.

Woodard caught 51 passes for 1,070 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, averaging 21 yards per reception across 12 games. He also contributed on defense with 32 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception.

Woodard enters his decision ranked No. 156 nationally, No. 23 at wide receiver and No. 16 in California in the Rivals Industry Ranking. He previously committed to USC before reopening his recruitment in May.
