Miami has already built one of the best defensive back groups in the 2027 class. Now the Hurricanes are in contention for another top cornerback who could make that group program-defining.

Gabriel Osborne Jr., a four-star cornerback from Mustang High in Oklahoma, has trimmed his recruitment to five schools: Miami, Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State.

Miami makes top five for 2027 four-star cornerback Gabriel Osborne Jr.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback is a four-star prospect and the No. 40 overall player, No. 6 cornerback and No. 3 player in Oklahoma in the 247Sports Composite. 247Sports' in-house rankings place him No. 25 nationally, No. 4 at cornerback and No. 2 in Oklahoma. ESPN has Osborne as the No. 99 player in the SC Next 300, No. 12 cornerback and No. 3 player in Oklahoma.

The Hurricanes have not limited their 2027 defensive back board to South Florida or even the Southeast. They have already gone to California for Donte Wright, Alabama for Ai'King Hall and now remain firmly involved with Osborne out of Oklahoma.

Osborne played 12 games in 2025 and finished with 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He also caught nine passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns, ran six times for 84 yards and made an impact in the return game. He averaged 33.3 yards on six kickoff returns and 24.1 yards on five punt returns, including a 60-yard punt return touchdown.

Osborne has 154 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 22 pass breakups, seven interceptions, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three punt return touchdowns and one kickoff return touchdown across three varsity seasons.

Miami's 2027 class has 13 commitments and is ranked No. 6 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

247Sports ranks Wright as the No. 10 overall player, No. 2 cornerback and No. 1 prospect in California. 247Sports has Hall as the No. 131 overall player and No. 17 cornerback in the 2027 class. Jones is the No. 225 overall player and No. 21 safety, per 247Sports. Gourdine, Jones' teammate at McArthur, is the No. 62 cornerback and No. 50 player in Florida in the Rivals Industry Ranking.
