Jalanie George, a five-star edge rusher from Desert Edge High in Goodyear, Arizona, has cut his recruitment to six schools, with Miami joining Washington, Ohio State, Auburn, Oklahoma and Florida in the final group.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound pass rusher is one of the top names in the 2028 class.

Miami makes final six for 2028 five-star edge Jalanie George
The 247Sports Composite ranks George as the No. 6 overall player, No. 2 edge rusher and No. 1 player in Arizona in the 2028 cycle.
As a sophomore, George finished with 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
In his freshman season, George had 63 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one interception in 14 games while helping Desert Edge win an Arizona 5A state championship. He was also named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American.
Going into his junior season, George has put up 117 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception through his first two varsity seasons.
George has recently taken unofficial visits to Ole Miss and Auburn, but Ole Miss did not make his final group. He has not yet set up a Miami visit, though one is expected in the near future.
George is an edge rusher, but his frame could allow him to grow into several different positions. He could stay as a true edge, become a bigger defensive end or eventually slide inside.
Miami and Mario Cristobal have put up an impressive 2027 class. Over the past two weeks, the Hurricanes have flipped five-star cornerback Donte Wright from Georgia, flipped cornerback Ai'King Hall from Oregon and added in-state edge Jayvon Dawson over Georgia and North Carolina.
