Miami has made wide receiver a priority in the transfer portal since K.J. Osborn transferred to Miami in the inaugural year of 2018. Subsequent classes have included Charleston Rambo in 2021, Frank Ladson in 2022, Tyler Harrell in 2023, Sam Brown in 2024 and C.J. Daniels, Tony Johnson and Keelan Marion in 2025 as transfer WRs to Miami.
Osborn transferred to Miami from Buffalo, Rambo from Oklahoma, Ladson from Clemson, Harrell from Alabama after beginning his career at Louisville, Brown from Houston, Johnson from Cincinnati after beginning at Florida Atlantic and Marion from BYU via Connecticut.
Osborn led Miami with 50 receptions for 547 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 when N'Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams both received extensive time at quarterback. On a Miami offense that was 90th, averaging 25.7 points per game, 99th posting 367.2 total yards per game and 52nd with 259.2 passing yards per game, Osborn added stability.
Rambo set Miami's single-season records with 79 receptions for 1,172 receiving yards and had seven TDs in 2021. In the 33-30 win over Georgia Tech, Rambo had seven receptions for 210 yards and a TD. Eddie Brown still holds the Miami record with 220 receiving yards versus Boston College in 1984.
In this episode of Storm Sessions, we’re joined by new Miami wide receiver CJ Daniels. CJ shares what it was like growing up in Atlanta, balancing football and basketball, how lessons from the hardwood have translated to the gridiron, and how he ultimately ended up at The U.

Ladson, who was an extremely high four-star WR in the 2019 class when he signed with Clemson, had 27 receptions for 298 receiving yards and one TD playing for Miami during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. After three seasons with Clemson and two with Miami, Ladson played two games for Massachusetts in 2024 without a reception.
Harrell, who is known for his speed, had four receptions for 45 yards with Miami in 2023 in his lone season with the Hurricanes. The best collegiate season for Harrell was 18 receptions for 523 yards and six TDs with Louisville in 2021. Harrell's 29.1 yards per reception were intriguing for his potential to stretch opposing defenses.
Brown was fourth on Miami with 36 receptions for 509 yards and fifth with two TD receptions during the 2024 season. Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson coached Brown at Houston, where he had a breakout season with 41 receptions for 471 yards and four TDs in 2022. Brown had 62 catches for 815 yards and three TDs in 2023.
Considering what the spring transfer window presented, Miami's additions of Keelan Marion, Tony Johnson, and CharMar Brown on offense are big wins.

Behind an elite offensive line, Carson Beck will have a nice blend of veterans and promising young players to work with.
Daniels has had a similar path to Miami as some of his predecessors at WR. After four seasons at Liberty, Daniels spent the 2024 season with LSU. Daniels has 148 receptions for 2,439 yards and 21 TDs in his collegiate career. Miami added Daniels during the winter transfer portal window.
Johnson and Marion announced their transfers to Miami this week. Johnson has 108 receptions for 1,118 receiving yards and 13 TDs playing primarily one season for Florida Atlantic and two for Cincinnati. Marion is an All-American kick returner who will have a bigger role as a WR with Miami.
Marion has 38 kickoff returns for 881 yards and two TDs that were both scored last season and 10 punt returns for 124 yards during his collegiate career, with 76 career receptions for 1,125 yards and seven TDs, with 30 carries for 136 yards and another five scores
Daniels was added to Miami to be their WR1 in 2025. Johnson and Marion add experience with the potential to post the best numbers of their careers in the Dawson offense catching passes from Georgia transfer quarterback Carson Beck.
