Guards Rylan Griffen, who spent last season at Kansas after two years at Alabama per a post to his Instagram stories and his teammate, freshman Rakease Passmore, are visiting Miami on Tuesday. Griffen would provide Miami with critical depth on the wing.
Griffen averaged 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 37.2 percent from the field, 33.6 percent on three-point attempts and 67.5 percent from the free throw line with a 48.1 eFG percentage. At 6'6 and 190 pounds, Griffen could start if Lucas wanted to play three guards.
Miami signed forward Malik Reneau, guards Tre Donaldson and Tru Washington and center Ernest Udeh from TCU as transfers. Lucas and his staff are still looking for a small forward and need to add depth after the entire 2024-25 Miami roster with eligibility remaining entered the transfer portal.
Griffen played in 33 games with 20 starts in 20.2 minutes per game with Kansas in 2024-25, where his numbers declined from the previous season at Alabama. On an Alabama team that made the 2023 Final Four, Griffen averaged 11.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 1.9 APG with a 45.5 FG percentage, 39.2 on three-point attempts and 81.0 percent on free throws.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Passmore could be a developmental player for Lucas with 2025 guard Dante Allen, who committed to Miami on Monday. Miami hosted Syracuse forward Chris Bell on Monday. The spring transfer portal closes on April 22, but players can take as long as they want to commit to their new program.
