Miami stayed aggressive in the transfer portal Tuesday, landing Ohio State defensive lineman Jarquez Carter, a true freshman who spent one season with the Buckeyes before deciding to head back to Florida.
Carter, a Newberry, Fla., native, arrived at Ohio State as an early enrollee in January 2025 and saw limited action as a freshman. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 288 pounds and registered one solo tackle in 2025.

Ohio State defensive lineman Jarquez Carter transfers to Miami
Carter was a coveted high school recruit in the 2025 cycle before signing with Ohio State. He was a four-star prospect and ranked among the top players nationally in the 2025 class in the On3 Consensus, coming out of Newberry High.
In On3's transfer portal positional rankings, Carter was listed among the top 10 defensive lineman available at No. 8. Another ranking has also included him in the list of transfer DL commits, sitting at No. 5 on that list.
From Ohio State's perspective, Carter is now one of three defensive tackles to transfer out, along with Eric Mensah and Maxwell Roy.
For Miami, the Hurricanes get to add a young interior lineman with major upside, who also has a Florida background. Carter is now a part of the future for Miami.
