The Miami Hurricanes continue to make significant strides in their 2026 recruiting efforts, recently hosting four-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo from St. Augustine High School in Florida. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, Wingo has emerged as one of thepremier wide receiver prospects in the 2026 class. His junior season statistics are impressive as he recorded 65 receptions for 1,040 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 16.8 yards per catch.
Wingo's talent has attracted attention from numerous top programs. According to 247Sports, he holds offers from multiple schools, including the Florida Gators. The Gators have been proactive in their pursuit, with wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales leading the recruitment. Wingo has expressed a strong relationship with Gonzales, stating, "I have a great relationship with Coach G; it's always a good time when I visit there or he visits me." The proximity of Gainesville to his hometown also adds to Florida's appeal.
Alabama is another school in contention as they extended an offer to Wingo in late January. He has shown interest in the program, acknowledging its tradition and the potential for development under their coaching staff. Wingo mentioned, "It is Alabama. It is a great program. Everything is great. They produce good players all around." โWingo has also been linked to Florida State, with reports indicating a likely visit in the near future. He has an official visit scheduled with the University of South Carolina on June 20 as well. As of right now, Wingo has an official visit lined up with Miami on May 30 to June 1 and with Florida on June 6.
Wingo released his top 10 schools list back in December but has indicated that after the recent offers from Alabama and FSU, that it will change. The initiial top 10 list included Miami, Florida, USF, UCF, LSU, Louisville, Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri and Kansas.
The Hurricanes' coaching staff, particularly wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, have been actively engaging with Wingo. As the recruiting process unfolds, Miami remains firmly in the mix, aiming to secure the Florida-native's talents in the 2026 recruiting cycle.โ
