Georgia transfer center Somto Cyril has committed to the Hurricanes, offering Jai Lucas an answer in the frontcourt after Miami lost Malik Reneau and Ernest Udeh from last season's squad.

Cyril is coming off a sophomore year in which he averaged 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 21.2 minutes per game while shooting 75.9% from the field for the Bulldogs.

Somto Cyril would give Miami a real answer at center

Cyril logged 15 double-figure scoring games, three double-digit rebounding games and two double-doubles this past season. He scored a career-high 18 points in a road win at South Carolina, posted 15 points and 15 rebounds against West Georgia, and had six points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a late-season upset of Alabama.

Cyril made the SEC All-Defensive Team and led the conference in blocks per game. He closed the season with 74 blocks, which finished as the No. 7 single-season total in school history. He also recorded a career-high eight blocks against Arkansas, the most by any SEC player during the 2025-26 season.

Cyril led the nation in dunks with 83 and set Georgia's single-season field goal percentage record at 75.9%. That is an absurd number even for a center, and it speaks to how effective he was around the rim. Miami is looking to replace scoring around the rim and Cyril offers an uber-efficient answer to that problem as the Canes head into Lucas' second season.

247Sports ranked Cyril No. 43 nationally in the 2024 class, and he was a consensus four-star prospect out of Overtime Elite. Over two college seasons, he has now put together 66 games, logging 125 career blocks. He improved from 4.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks as a freshman to 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks as a sophomore.
