After dropping two of three at home to Boston College over the weekend, Miami bounced back with a 9-5 win over UCF, improving to 13-4 overall and staying perfect in midweek games at 5-0 this season.

The win also finished off a season sweep of the Knights after Miami's 8-7, 13-inning comeback win in Coral Gables on Feb. 17.

Miami defeated UCF 9-5, improving to 13-4

Jake Ogden jumped on the second pitch of the game for a leadoff homer, his second of the season, and the Hurricanes never let UCF settle in after that. Every time the Knights made a push, Miami found another way to stretch the lead back out.

The Knights came in 9-5 and riding a five-game winning streak after a home sweep of Murray State, and they had already beaten FGCU the previous Wednesday.

The fourth and seventh innings were where Miami really took control. Down 2-1 in the fourth, the Hurricanes capitalized on defensive mistakes and put together a three-run frame. Daniel Cuvet started the rally by reaching, Alex Sosa followed with a single, Brylan West tied it with an RBI knock, and Miami grabbed the lead for good.

In the seventh, Miami broke it open again with another three-run inning. Cuvet drove in Ogden, Derek Williams added an RBI single, and Alonzo Alvarez worked a bases-loaded walk to make it 9-5.

West had a 3-for-5 night with a double and an RBI, while Alvarez finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Miami used a bullpen-heavy approach after freshman Sebastian Santos-Olson lasted just 1.1 innings. TJ Coats ended up getting the win after allowing one run in 1.2 innings of relief, and the Canes had to survive a shaky sixth after Austin Jacobs' three-run homer cut the lead to 6-5.

Now the Hurricanes head to Durham for a three-game ACC series against Duke.
