Welcome to the college football landscape, Bill Belichick! Life is going to be quite different for the GOAT NFL head coach now that he's dropped down a level. Leave it to Mario Cristobal to remind Belichick that he's going to be at the top of his game at all times.
Not long ago, North Carolina reportedly hired Taylor Edwards for a role in the team's player personnel department. Edwards was previously on staff at South Carolina, but he was fired by Shane Beamer due to recruiting violations committed by the SEC side. While it looks like Edwards was ready for his move to Chapel Hill, he's going to be packing his bags for Miami instead:
Miami reportedly stole staffer Taylor Edwards away from UNC and Bill Belichick
Sorry, we're not sorry about that, Bill. On paper it may not seem like a huge move, but let's be real here, it's always going to be a statement when the Hurricanes can lure a coach away from another school, especially when it's North Carolina and Belichick.
Edwards received plenty of attention this offseason from programs, but originally Belichick was able to sell him on the future of the Tar Heels to get him to join his team. Again, though, that decision didn't last long, as Miami has presented him with a better opportunity.
Kudos to Cristobal for getting this done. It's been a busy past week for the Hurricanes, who suffered a heartbreaking loss to Iowa State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Countless people continue to blast Cam Ward for quitting on his team, but that wasn't the case.
Cristobal is now focused on finding a new quarterback for 2025, while he's also looking to add more help to the wide receivers room, with Zachariah Branch being a name to keep an eye on moving forward. The Miami staff as a whole will be working overtime to make some big moves in the coming weeks to improve the roster for '25. Luckily, that staff will now include Edwards.
