Five-star edge rusher Zyron Forstall, the IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) standout originally from New Orleans Jesuit, is strongly considering Miami as he sorts through a national recruitment that also includes Texas A&M, Notre Dame and LSU.

Forstall is rated the No. 2 edge rusher nationally in the 247Sports Composite and sits just outside the top 10 overall. On3 also has him as a top-tier prospect in the 2027 class as well and lists him at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds.

Forstall transferred to IMG and posted 28 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, five sacks and four quarterback hurries as a junior.

Earlier in February, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Texas A&M to land Forstall. Miami is competing with a program in Forstall's home-state (LSU) and A&M, who seems to be pushing extremely hard. But, it is promising that Forstall chose to transfer to IMG. Hopefully for the Canes that means that he is comfortable in the area by the time he decides to commit.

The Hurricanes can sell a development track record up front. Jason Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, is Miami's defensive line coach and is a central point of contact in Forstall's recruitment. Miami's defense underwent a 180-degree swing in 2025. The unit went from a weak link in 2024 and turned into a force within the ACC, and later in the 2025 CFP.

EDGE Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor are two players from the Miami defensive line that are projected to go in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. If both players are selected in the opening round, that should help recruitment in the D-line department for the Hurricanes.

Forstall took an unofficial visit to Miami on Aug. 31, 2025. In that game, Miami defeated Notre Dame, who is also one of the top teams competing for Forstall's services.
