Five-star running back Kemon Spell has moved into the next phase of his recruitment, and Miami is right in the middle of it. The star RB has narrowed his list to five schools — Georgia, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State and Miami — giving Mario Cristobal's staff a shot at the No. 1 running back in the 2027 class.
Spell was previously committed to Penn State. He picked PSU in August 2024 after getting an offer that spring. He decommitted following the firing of James Franklin.
Missed 5 games due to injury still reach 1k dawg on both sides of the ball!

Kemon Spell includes Miami in top five schools
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound junior is rated the No. 1 running back and a top-10 overall prospect nationally in the 2027 cycle by the major recruiting services. He has put up monster numbers for McKeesport High, rushing 157 times for 1,681 yards and 24 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2024 after going for 517 yards and 12 scores as a freshman. Despite missing five games he finished with 1,755 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns in his junior year.
Spell tried to attend a game at Hard Rock Stadium this fall but never made it into the building because of flight delays. Instead, he ended up doing a campus tour and extended sit-down with Mario Cristobal’s staff and running backs coach Matt Merritt.
The Hurricanes only have one running back committed in the 2026 Class — Javian Mallory — and none committed in the 2027 Class. Mallory logged 1,114 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns on 117 carries, plus 10 catches for 147 yards and four receiving TDs in his senior year.
Now it becomes about getting Spell back to Coral Gables for a game, letting him see Hard Rock at full volume, and trying to chip away at the early lead Georgia and Notre Dame appear to have built.
