The Miami Hurricanes have emerged as contenders in the recruitment of four-star athlete Jacob Eberhart, following a recent in-school meeting with the program's defensive coordinator. Eberhart, who is from Kirkwood High School in St. Louis, Missouri, was orginally offered by the Canes back in February.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, Eberhart is ranked as the No. 324 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also ranked as the No. 18 ATH and No. 4 player out of Missouri. Eberhart holds over 35 Division I offers, including Ohio State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Penn State.
Eberhart's recent visit to Ohio State resulted in an offer from the Buckeyes but Miami's proactive approach, coupled with the in-school meeting with their defensive coordinator, has positioned the Hurricanes as a strong contender. It should be noted that On3 has his top three schools as Ole Miss, Nebraska and Ohio State.
Eberhart has demonstrated the ability to excel at multiple positions, including linebacker and safety and his performance on both sides of the ball has made him an interesting prospect for a lot of programs.
Miami's defensive coordinator, Corey Hetherman, was hired in the offseason back in January. He also acts as the linebackers coach for the Hurricanes, so there could be an angle there in the recruitment for Eberhart. Another possible angle for Miami in the race for Eberhart is the Missouri connection. Mario Cristobal and his staff recently secured the commitment of the No. 1 player in the nation, Jackson Cantwell, who also from Missouri.
As Eberhart continues to evaluate his options, an official visit to Miami could provide him with a better gauge of how Miami would work for him. Currently Miami has the 8th-best 2026 recruiting class in the nation and No. 1 recruiting class in the ACC, per On3.
