Miami involved in 3-team race with Florida and Iowa for elite 2027 PG Cayden Daughtry

One of the top PGs in the country, Cayden Daughtry, is reportedly deciding between three teams: Miami, Iowa and Florida. Daughtry's official visit to Coral Gables is set for Oct. 16-18.

Daughtry is a 6-foot, 155-pound point guard at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale. 247Sports ranks him No. 3 nationally and No. 2 at the position in the 2027 class, ESPN places him No. 4 overall and No. 2 among point guards, and Rivals ranks him No. 8 nationally and No. 2 at the position.

Daughtry was MaxPreps National Junior of the Year after averaging 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals and leading Calvary Christian to a second straight state championship. In the title game he scored 30 points with eight assists.

Daughtry was Peach Jam MVP after averaging 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals while shooting 58.6% from the field and 48.8% from 3-point range.

Daughtry trimmed his list down to 14 schools in late August: Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Providence, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Vanderbilt and Villanova.

He has already been on a number of visits as he weighs his options. Daughtry was on campus at Florida State from Aug. 28-30, he went to Tennessee on Sept. 4-6, Iowa on Sept. 11-13 and Florida on Sept. 25-27.

Coming up, Daughtry will go to Miami for a visit on Oct. 16-18, Louisville on Oct. 24 and Arkansas Oct. 30-Nov. 1.

Miami HC Jai Lucas has extensively mentioned how keeping the top Florida recruits in-state is a major point of emphasis. Lucas has already done that with 5-star Caleb Gaskins from the 2026 class and this would be another huge step in establishing Miami as a recruiting force in the college basketball world.
