Miami just landed two transfer kickers in the same day while they also keep an eye on a much bigger chase at quarterback.
Florida State kicker Jake Weinberg and Northwestern kicker Jack Olsen have both committed to Miami, giving the Hurricanes fresh options at the position.

Miami is making moves in the transfer portal
Miami is set to lose starter Carter Davis after the national championship because he will exhaust his eligibility, and the staff went straight into the portal to reload.
Weinberg brings immediate familiarity, plus a leg Miami coaches clearly value. He started all 12 games for Florida State in 2025 and went 12-of-19 on field goals while making all 46 extra points. He also handled kickoffs, posting 56 touchbacks on 61 kickoffs (63.0-yard average).
Weinberg was a perfect 3-of-3 from 20-29 yards and 6-of-8 from 30-39 yards, with most of his misses coming from longer range. Weinberg also went 2-for-2 on field goals against Miami, hitting from 23 and 35 yards.
Olsen hit 19-of-21 field goals in 2025 and finished 24-of-25 on extra points. Olsen went a perfect 14-of-14 from 30-plus yards and converted the game-winning field goal against Minnesota that helped clinch bowl eligibility.
Miami has created what looks like an open competition at kicker for next season.
Miami is also targeting Duke transfer QB Darian Mensah
Miami has been linked as a potential landing spot for Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, but any pursuit comes with an unusual complication. Mensah's current Duke agreement gives the school exclusive name, image and likeness rights, and the structure could prevent Mensah from earning revenue-sharing money at his next school unless Duke terminates its deal. Mensah is in the second year of a two-year arrangement that would pay him up to $4 million in 2026.
Even with the complications, Miami is the expected favorite in Mensah's recruitment. The Hurricanes have landed transfer quarterbacks in consecutive years, including Cam Ward and Carson Beck.
