Miami beats LSU, Virginia Tech for Ezekiel Ayangbile
Ayangbile is a 6-foot-2, 265-pound defensive lineman in the 2027 class. 247Sports ranks him as a four-star prospect, the No. 247 overall player in the country, the No. 26 defensive lineman and the No. 40 player in Texas. The 247Sports Composite has him as the No. 227 overall prospect, No. 23 among defensive lineman and the No. 36 player in Texas.
The Rivals Industry Ranking lists him as the No. 179 overall recruit and No. 21 defensive lineman in the 2027 cycle.
This was a meaningful recruiting win for Miami, considering Virginia Tech had a personal connection in this recruitment. Ayangbile's father, Duane Brown, played at Virginia Tech from 2003-07 before becoming a first-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2008 and a five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle in the NFL. His mother, Ciera Ayangbile, also competed in track and field at Virginia Tech.
Miami had been pushing hard for Ayangbile and got him to campus last month for the program's Spring Ball Splash recruiting event. That visit gave him a chance to watch practice and see the program up close before the final stretch of his recruitment.
Ayangbile gives Miami another defensive line commitment alongside Key West defensive lineman Josh Johnson. Before Ayangbile's commitment, Miami had nine commits in the 2027 class, including Johnson as its lone defensive line commit. The Hurricanes were ranked No. 12 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings before adding Ayangbile.
Ayangbile finished his junior season with 50 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks after recording 40 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks as a sophomore.
