At around 6′3″ and 235 lbs (others list him at 6′2″/230 lbs), Charles is regarded as a powerful, explosive edge rusher. On3.com ranks him as the No. 194 overall prospect, No. 25 EDGE nationally, and the No. 25 player in the state of Florida for the Class of 2026. 247Sports puts him around No. 147 overall and No. 15 at his position. They also listed among the top 25 EDGE prospects and recruits in Florida.
Charles’s physical tools are impressive as he boasts a roughly 360‑lb power clean and a 9‑7 broad jump. The on-the-field production is there as well as he has 39 tackles for loss and 24.5 sacks over the past two seasons. He has 205 tackles over the past two season in addition to a During his freshman season leading Venice, he recorded 107 tackles, 15.5 TFLs, 13.5 sacks, plus 20 QB hurries.
A key factor in his decision appears to be Miami’s coaching staff. Defensive line coach Jason Taylor, a Hall of Famer and former elite NFL pass rusher, has built a strong relationship with Charles, working with him one-on-one and even discussing life beyond football. Charles has said that Taylor told him, “to come home,” and that Miami's defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman runs a scheme that fits his strengths.
Miami's 2026 class is one of the top classes in the entire country. With 15 commits so far — nine blue-chip recruits — the Hurricanes rank No. 9 in the nation. Even after the commitment from Charles, Miami still ranks just below Clemson in the ACC, but the Hurricanes are right on their tail.
