Miami locks in visit from top-100 safety as push for defensive backs continues to grow

Mario Cristobal's staff now has a late-June chance with one of the top defensive backs in the country. Four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole has locked in an official visit to Miami.

Ta'Shawn Poole adds Miami to visit schedule

Poole, a 2027 safety from Howard High School in Macon, Georgia, has an official visit schedule that includes Clemson on May 29, Tennessee on June 6, Florida State on June 12, Miami on June 19 and Georgia on June 23.

Clemson, Tennessee, Florida State and Georgia have all been heavily involved, and Poole has already taken multiple trips to several of those programs. Miami getting an official visit gives the Hurricanes a chance to make the recruitment something more than just a long-shot.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Poole as the No. 59 overall player, No. 5 among safeties and No. 5 in Georgia. The Rivals Industry Ranking has Poole inside the top 75 nationally. He is ranked as the No. 71 overall player, No. 4 safety and No. 6 player in Georgia.

Poole is a free safety and wide receiver, and in his junior year he put up 309 receiving yards, 179 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns in seven games.
